To Whom It May Concern: (with love)

My daughter sent me this the other day, her way of reminding me of things that, even at my advanced age, one is likely to forget. Bless her. We all need to be forgiven, we all need to be praised for simply carrying on the best we can, with dignity and moral purpose our lodestars.

Cannibalistic Tendencies?

Image result for germaine greer

The Metoo movement reminds me of gals at college back in the day who used to tell me I couldn't be feminist if I shaved my legs. I responded: Oh yeah, well, we'll see about that.

Decades later the 'new' women's movement is eating their own, that catty stereotype men love to cite. I offer the link below as a cautionary tale. It is a shocking demonstration of feminism's cannibalism, and Greekly tragic to watch. The Republicans have only to sit back grinning, as an icon of committed feminism, a deep philosophical thinker who has walked the walk all her long life committed to women's liberation, is rudely interrupted, never allowed to finish a single sentence, not only savaged by a rudely aggressive (not to say angry?) male interrogator but by the very young women whose lives she (unbeknownst to them apparently) affected so potently. They are simply not interested in the complexity of her thought.

This is what society has become. Why the democrats will once more eat their own, only more viciously this time in this era of MeMeMe vicious attack and uncivility. I felt deeply ashamed watching this brutal grilling of a kind and devoted woman, and feel this is the beginning of the end of constructive sisterhood. Susan Faludi once wrote brilliantly of the 80s Republican Backlash against feminist progress of the 60s and 70s. Who will have the courage to someday write of this Third Wave Backlash against the Second Wave, I wonder?

Remember, MeToo-ers, You too will one day know important things no one wants to think about and has no time for, you too will one day have a cautionary tale to tell that the young, in a hurry, will have no patience for. As the gorgeous Germaine below would no doubt have known even at that age. One can't help but wonder sometimes that the young seem to bitterly resent the very real witness to the fact of aging that old women undeniably present. "That will never be me," they think. "Never." First Wave were born on Home Plate; Second Wave were born on Second: Third wave born on third. Who's gonna hit it home?Related image
